I learned about thumb fin from seeing this great little invention being used on YouTube by a bass player who I follow - and had to get one.
I find no comfortable place to rest my thumb on either of my basses and thought this looked the ideal solution.
I had reached out to BJ regarding shipping to the UK which was quite expensive, I know he is trying to find a distributor in the UK - and really hope he does as the product is AWESOME.
I had considered retrofitting a screw on thumb rest to my guitars but couldn't find it in myself to drill holes in these beautiful instruments, and then I discovered you!
If you want to make your bass playing more comfortable then you need this!
Thank you BJ for everything and really hope to see you in the UK!
However I recommend having a softer surface material like silicon as an option. Pressing continually on the hard surface tires my thumb. Your thoughts?
Excellent product highly recommended! Does exactly what it's designed to do and being able move them to another instantly is a game changer.
It’s the simple things in life that make things better. This little thumb rest is a great addition to my bass playing. I play a Sire GB5 base guitar, and there is no place to rest my thumb. The Thumbfin provides a place for my thumb and is a great reference point for the rest of my hand when plugging the strings, AND it doesn’t mess with the guitar’s high gloss finish. Great product, highly recommend it!
Works as expected. Great on a precision or jazz bass. A bit too low for a hofner. It Can be used on a rickenbacker, but the sweet spot for me is over the edge of the pickguard. A zeromod ordered for the rick.
In all cases the suction works well for 4 hours of a performance. The fin is very firm and comfortable for the duration of the show. Quite stubborn when trying to remove it and I worry I'll damage the suction cups. It's really great to put further back near the bridge to get a brighter sound.
