Fantastic product! Holds great, easy to remove if I choose and won't damage my bass!
Just received my order for my second Thumb Fin this year. Got one for my new Sire U5 in Feb and loved it. Just bought a new Danelectro Fifty Niner so I ordered another. Arrived today with a little something extra in the package as a "thank you". Before buying the first one, I was a little leery of the suction cup mounting, as in my experience they never stay solid for very long. Once I moved it around a little find the optimal position for me, it stayed rock solid in the same place for months. I once picked up the bass and had it move about a bit, but I did a quick clean of the pickguard surface and re-seated it and it has stayed stable ever since. It definitely made a positive difference in my playing since my right hand was in a consistent place and was positioned at a better angle. Will (and have) recommend to anyone looking for a thumb rest, whether they're willing to drill holes or not.
It took me a minute to figure out the best position for this. I play a fender jaguar and it can be hard to get it to stick at the right place with my body and pick guard. I think there is a reason all of the photos show it with a stingray. It also takes a bit for the suction cups to stick and stay put, they have to dry a while or it will slip around. Either way, I figured it out and really enjoy playing with it!
I love how this simple little gadget can be added via suction cups to just about any bass. I did NOT try this on my acoustic bass yet but pretty sure this would still work on wooden acoustic bass guitars. I like the fact that these Thumb Fins can stick to my Aerodyne that has no pick guard. Sticks right to the body without any issues. Easy to remove and adjust position that best fits to your own preference.
